July’s True Free Spirit assignment was a landscape. I’m usually much more into people and faces, even in my photography. But, in the spirit of trying something new and stretching my art skills, I went ahead and gave it a go. Meh. Not my favorite subject or my favorite piece of art. I used tissue paper collage, acrylics, and water soluble pastels.
After completing this, I figured it would probably be the last landscape painting I’d do. But this morning I started experimenting with some of my old gelli plate backgrounds and dyed paper towels I had lying around in my art stash. This is a work in progress, but so far it qualifies as a landscape, and much more “Holly style” I think. I’m still waiting to see what might emerge between the trees. Maybe a person? A cat? LOL. A person AND a cat? No idea. More to come on this one.
Glad to see you’re trying it all. Never know what will set you on fire. I love the right hand side of the first one and the second is definitely your whimsical style……….I’d be hard pressed to choose a favorite. (: xxoo
Well I think you definitely have talent in landscapes. Put that piece on canvas and I could see it in an art gallery. Beautiful!
I love ‘Holly Style’! The colors are so beautiful and vibrant! I think you certainly DO have talent with landscapes!
